Ministries
Every member of the Royal Oak body is encouraged and expected to use their talents, abilities and spiritual gifts for the building up of the Body of Christ in serving others. This is not only insisted by our leaders, but it is also God’s desire for our lives (Ephesians 2:8-10). While some of our ministries focus on strengthening our own members, other ministries serve, teach and encourage those in our community, visitors and unbelievers. Many of our activities are open to members as well as visitors.
Periodically classes are taught on identifying and employing our talents, abilities and spiritual gifts in the body of Christ. Every person who desires to be a member of the Royal Oak church is also asked to be involved in ministry. We have a “Ministry Fair” every other year, allowing each member to meet our deacons and discuss ministry involvement. Members are asked to complete a Ministry and Involvement form indicating where they would like to serve. Profile testing is also available for those who aren’t sure what their gifts are or where they should serve. Our goal is to have every member actively involved and committed to one or more ministries in the family at Royal Oak.
The first century church choose spiritual men who served the local church body in order that the shepherds and evangelists could focus on prayer and the ministry of the Word (Acts 6:1-7) and God blessed the church with spiritual and numeric growth. Paul wrote to Timothy and included a list of qualities that these men should possess to lead with influence and integrity (1 Timothy 3:8-13).
